Word has reached us that old friend and golfer, Joseph Sweeney, has passed at the age of 94.The Port Richmond native grew up participating in many sports and performed well in all. However, he did have a leaning toward golf and seemed to enjoy those early morning rounds when the Silver Lake Golf Course was fairly empty and the only sound was the tweeting of birds.Sweeney was a member of the New York Police Department and working hours were conducive to smooth and fast rounds. We're sure that at his age and many rounds of play he could pass on many interesting stories about the Lake course in the old days.
